Rated the UK's greatest ever Soul Singer by many, including myself. She was capable of singing in different styles and differing music genres. Not many artistes could do that!

Interesting documentary.
Difficult woman (as said according to even her closest friends) but the results speak for themselves. Very insecure & later admitted to being bisexual but the belief was that she was pretty much all GAY.
Grew up in West Hampstead (Sumatra Rd) which is probably the biggest musical event for the suburb since the Beatles got told to fuck off by the Decca Studios in Broadhurst Gardens.

She was blind as a bat, she couldn't make out faces more than a few feet away from her, maybe that's why some people think she was stroppy or stuck up, her friends all say she was a darling lovely person

My ex wife nursed the old dyke in the Russell Clinic , Digby Hospital, , Exeter for depression back in the late 70's. .
Good voice though, but slightly overrated, imho.
